Amazon Australia launches Pantry food and drinks category

Online retail giant Amazon Australia has launched a new Pantry food and drinks category, offering a wide range of everyday items for shoppers to stock up on.

The category includes a variety of products such as soft drinks, snacks, canned goods, pasta, rice, and breakfast cereals. Amazon Australia says that the Pantry category is designed to make it easy for shoppers to find and purchase everyday food and drinks items without having to leave their homes.

Amazon Australia's Pantry category is the latest in a series of moves by the company to expand its grocery offerings in Australia. In recent months, Amazon Australia has also launched a fresh food delivery service in Sydney and Melbourne, and has partnered with Coles to offer grocery delivery through the Amazon Prime service.

The launch of the Pantry category is likely to be seen as a direct challenge to Australia's two largest supermarket chains, Coles and Woolworths. Both Coles and Woolworths have been investing heavily in their online grocery offerings in recent years, and the launch of Amazon Pantry will likely increase competition in the market.

It is not yet clear how successful Amazon Pantry will be in Australia. However, the launch of the category is a sign of Amazon's growing ambitions in the Australian grocery market.
